Resource Development Council for Alaska alerts citizens to today’s hearing

For reference see the jim Janson (lynden CEO) speech here re: solve the fiscal crisis!

The House Finance Committee will take public testimony on the House Resources Committee Substitute for House Bill 111 (oil tax policy reform) tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at your local Legislative Information Office. Remarks must be concise as testimony will be limited to two minutes. If you are not able to testify in person, please call 844-586-9085 for the call in number to deliver your testimony. For additional information on CSHB 111 and points to consider for your testimony, please see RDC’s Action Alert

For those who participated in earlier public hearings held by the House Resources Committee on HB 111, thank you! Given Saturday’s hearing is before a new committee, we need you again to express your opposition to the bill. For those who were unable to testify earlier this month, it is urgent you take this new opportunity to oppose the bill. Encourage your friends and colleagues to join you!

If passed, CSHB 111 would raise the state’s petroleum production tax and increase the cost of doing business for both large and small North Slope producers. CSHB 111 represents the seventh oil tax law change in 12 years and the third since 2013.

Urge the committee to avoid changing oil tax policy again. We have a responsibility to let policy makers know that changing tax policy so frequently will impact investment decisions and lead to fewer jobs, less production, less revenue to the Permanent Fund, and lower state revenues over the long term.

Thank you,
RDC
