Respected Alaska Business Leader and Daughter Pass With Senator Stevens – Dan Fauske Reports Gas Pipeline Task Force Progress

ADN by Elizabeth Bluemink.  Dana Tindall (File Photo), the General Communication Inc. executive who died in Monday's plane crash in the Bristol Bay region, was a major figure in Alaska's telecom industry.  ... Tindall's work on GCI's behalf is a major reason why Alaskans have a choice in telephone companies, said Nan Thompson, a former state regulator who now works for Enstar Natural Gas Co.  Thompson called Tindall a "brilliant strategist." ... Tindall was a key GCI strategist in this ultimately successful fight, and local service since has expanded within Alaska.  "Understanding [...]

ADN by JAMES HALPIN, RICHARD MAUER and LISA DEMER.  Friends of former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens (NGP Photo-r with author) said he was traveling Monday to the GCI-owned Agulowak Lodge near Lake Aleknagik, and they were concerned for him.  A woman who answered the phone at the Anchorage home of retired Air Force Gen. Joe Ralston, a good friend of Stevens, said Ralston was with Stevens' wife, Catherine, comforting her and trying to find out what was going on.  No one answered the phone at the homes of Stevens' daughter, Susan [...]

Here’s the Audio: Radio Critique of Senator Begich’s Beaufort-Chukchi OCS Bureaucracy – Chevron Invests in Canadian Beaufort – Sarah Palin’s Gas Pipeline Legacy – Camelot at Alyeska Resort

Hear our talk show program last week, analyzing the impact of many dangerous energy initiatives threatening the economy of Alaska!  And here's a link, "Strangling Alaska",  to several stories on this subject. Tundra Drums, by Dave Harbour.  The latest attack on Alaska's economy comes from legislation sponsored by Senator Mark Begich (NGP Photo). Adopted by the Senate Commerce Committee, this bill is seemingly well intended - like SB 4 --and disguised as an effort to give coastal citizens a 'voice'.  But it would increase the cost of natural resource exploration [...]

Watch for Our Upcoming Feature: On Dave Stieren's Radio Show (NGP Photo, w/Author) We Unmasked Efforts to Undermine Alaska's Constitution Obama Administration's Drilling Ban (ObamaBan) Could Harm Alaska's and America's Economy for Decades to Come! Forbes Magazine, by Joel Kotkin--another great American.  The Obama administration's ban of offshore drilling could harm the state's -- and the nation's -- economy for decades to come.  The most serious collateral damage from the BP spill disaster could very likely be in the far north, along the Alaskan coast. The problem is not a current spill but [...]

What Is Going On With Congress This Week? – More coming later today….

...as to what is going on with Congress this week, here is an insiders analysis from Robert Dillon, staff to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee: "We've gone from the majority leader scheduling two weeks to do energy legislation to one week to two days to one day to a couple of hours - for a process that can take months to do properly," says Dillon. "And now, in what seems to be a declaration of irrelevancy, Democrats on the Energy Committee are trying to schedule a committee markup [...]

Alaska Commission Blasts Non-Compliant BLM – TransCanada Open Season Ends Today – Governor Candidates Debate Gas Pipeline

Comment:  This week the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC) attacked the Bureau of Land Management, saying it is, "The only entity which has had difficulty complying with Alaska's drilling program...."   This interagency criticism comes to light in a July 27, 2010 letter sent from the three AOGCC commissioners to Alaska's Congressional Delegation.  The letter comments on a bill sponsored by Congressman Henry Waxman entitled the, "Blowout Prevention Act of 2010".  In the letter, Commissioners Dan Seamount (Chairman, NGP Photo-l), John Norman and Cathy Foerster first describe Waxman's [...]

Itta says, “I’m not trying to stop the oil, but….”

Will Mayor Edward Itta Cause Suffering and Exodus for Future Generations Of North Slope Borough Residents? In a July 18 Parade Magazine cover story, Mayor Edward Itta (NGP Photo) was quoted as saying, "I'm not trying to stop the oil, but if whales disappear, so will our culture."  (See attached article.) We believe all Alaskans emotionally support Itta's desire to maintain modern subsistence lifestyles, but Parade readers may not grasp the larger picture.  Alaska's economy is 1/3 dependent on oil.  Alaska's state budget is 90% dependent on oil.  The massive, [...]

Global Realism-Not Warming * Gas Pipeline Fuels Political Policies * BP’s Gas Pipeline Plans?

The American Culture.  [T]he Anthropogenic Global Warming scare is not about science and never was. As Climategate proved (but as some of us suspected long before), AGW is the invention of a cabal of activists, all working towards more or less the same ecofascist agenda: Mother Gaia is suffering; it’s mostly our fault; the only way to atone for our sins is to destroy Western industrial civilisation and shackle ourselves with a form of One World government run by ‘experts’ and bureaucrats over whom we have no democratic control. It [...]

Point of Personal Privilege

Since we operate this website, occasionally we will stray from the Gas Pipeline mission to make a personal note.  Today we offer two:   1.  Brother Doug Harbour of (NGP Photo) is defending America's constitution and the free enterprise system from his outpost in Eastern Colorado.  Here is his Op-Ed from this weekend's Denver Post and an earlier story (Pueblo Chieftan).  Tuesday, he'll be appearing on Mike Rosen's talk show on Denver's big voice, KOA.   2.  We attended Sunday's Anchorage Community Theater's production and were both impressed with the [...]

We hope to begin adding northern energy news and comment today…

...and provide readers with a complete review of the avalanche of national energy initiatives that are conspiring to return Alaska to a pre-pipeline economy.  Until then, enjoy Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's (NGP Photo) articulate, charismatic, compelling speech to us Wednesday.  Here's the video.  Here's a transcript. Our readers who align themselves with extreme environmental positions will find themselves the butt of the Governator's acidic and probing wit, as will our oil industry friends--particularly those from Texas! Man....
