6-30-13 Following Rome Down The Road To Ruin

Sunday Commentary Reference: Washington Times, 6-28-13, Victor Davis Hanson by Dave Harbour This morning, we were reminded by a Washington Times column, also printed in the Anchorage Daily News today, of how in its latter days, Rome debased its previously purer coins with alloys, increased taxes on productive farms, offered free games and food to the masses and counted on its military to continue defending a crumbling culture.   51% Say U.S. Economy is in Recession One evidence of North America's crumbling culture is the frequency and ferocity of political [...]

6-29-13 Tomorrow (6-30-13) Is An Important Day For Alaska!

COMMENTARY: We have never sent an email alert out over the weekend.  We did so today because we fear that -- no matter how one feels about a certain project -- the federal government is very close to setting a precedent that will forever compromise the "Rule of Law" in the United States of America.     Americans for Tax Reform have pointed out that the EPA killing an Alaska mine project before a permit for review is submitted is like  a judge issuing a verdict before hearing the case.   [...]

Energy In Depth.  A new study by the Center for Environmental Health uses well-worn talking points to claim that hydraulic fracturing – a process in use for more than 65 years – poses health threats to women and children.  Tellingly, the report offers no evidence of this occurring and conveniently leaves out the fact that health is improving in communities where shale development and hydraulic fracturing is taking place. Today's American Energy Alliance Links: His Majesty may shout ‘forward’ towards Germany, but the Germams are shouting back go back. The [...]

6-18-13 Environmental Opposition and Political Wrangling Threaten Canadian Energy Projects

CBC News.  The Conference Board of Canada says uncertainty over new pipeline projects poses a threat to Canadian companies that provide services to oil and gas producers. The Ottawa-based think-tank predicts the sector's real economic output this year will drop slightly by $60 million, or half a per cent, to $11.55 billion.  It says some of that is due to a lingering weakness in natural gas prices and a levelling off in conventional oil drilling.  The board says the "bigger threat" is the lack of pipeline capacity, as environmental opposition [...]
