Scroll Down For Commentary: "J'Accuse"

Calgary Herald by Deborah Yedlin.  One year ago, at the annual IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates' CERA Week conference here, talk was infused with concerns of the Arab Spring, rising oil prices and whether releasing barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve would be a good idea. … As this year's event kicked off Monday, oil prices are rising and instead of the focus being on Egypt, Libya and Tunisia, the conversation has turned toward the uncertainty presented by Iran.

Elizabeth Giardina, Dan Fagan Show, AlaskaYesterday we had the pleasure of joining Dan Fagan, Alaska, Radio, Television, Elizabeth Giardina, Politics, Photo by Dave HarbourDan Fagan and Elizabeth Giardina (NGP Photos) to discuss energy issues but the conversation varied from energy issues to the ancient Egyptian and Roman civilizations, news media, presidential candidates, "intergenerational inequity", and current politics.  Listeners wanting to review that conversation can fast forward to the 7 a.m. hour yesterday, occuring at the 48th minute, using the little button to the right of the volume control.  Here's a link to last week's interview on the show, "Alaska Political Insider".

Alaska Dispatch by Amanda Coyne.  In a speech to the Alaska Legislature in Juneau on Monday, U.S. Sen. Mark Begich predicted that despite the inevitable legal challenges, exploration for oil and gas will commence: "Let me repeat that: there will be oil development in Alaska's (Outer Continental Shelf) this summer," he said.

House Natural Resources Committee.  Today, the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources held an oversight hearing on the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSM) Fiscal Year 2013 Budget and received testimony from OSM Director Joe Pizarchik on the status of the Obama Administration’s actions to initiate rewrite coal mining regulations.   Direct analysis by contractors hired to conduct the rewrite showed the regulations could cost up to 7,000 direct coal mining jobs and cause economic harm to 22 states across the country.

"J'Accuse"

Here is one example of numerous times througout this web journal of how we have reported on a deceptive Obama Administration practice.  It is a strategy of conducting operations at taxpayer expense, not authorized by Congress, in support of a renegade, presumptious, duplicative and damaging "National Oceans Council" effort to "zone the oceans".

Obama has attempted to disguise this unauthorized activity under cover of an executive order that directs many federal agencies to engage in a task force effort to execute this massive, harmful program beginning this spring.

We have shown how BOEMRE has been used by Obama's White House Council on Environmental Quality to coordinate CEQ ocean zoning meetings in Alaska.  He is similarly misusing other agencies like the United States Coast Guard, misdirecting them and their resources from lawful missions that are approved by Congress to support with staff time and money this unauthorized activity.

Chairman Doc Hastings, House Natural Resources Committee, Obama Ocean Policy, Photo by Dave HarbourWe are pleased that the U.S. House of Representatives Natural Resource Committee under Chairman Doc Hastings' (NGP Photo) leadership is onto Obama's game, nabbing his CEQ Chairwoman in the act of executing this unauthorized program.  Here is a statement the Chairman made today as his hearing began.

Back in 1898, writer Émile Zola made certain accusations of the the government to the President of France.  "J'Accuse", he said, "I accuse".  I suspect that if this brave journalist were alive and well today as an American citizen, he might pen an editorial to the current president, also entitled, "J'Accuse".
