Fairbanks News Miner. Gov. Sean Parnell (NGP Photo) will be in Fairbanks today to sign Senate Bill 138, a landmark bill letting the state take the first steps to partner with North Slope producers to build a large diameter natural gas pipeline from North Slope to tidewater. The bill allows the state to partner with ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and BP as well as pipeline company TransCanada. The 800-mile pipeline would be largely used to send North Slope gas to the world market, but agreements guarantee at least five take-off points for in-state gas, including one in Fairbanks.
Alaska Public Media: Surrounded by state legislators, cameras, and heavy machinery, Gov. Sean Parnell signed a measure that could serve as a starting point for a major natural gas project. He put his name on the bill Thursday, at a pipeline training center in Fairbanks. (Hear the press conference)
