Alaska House of Representatives Speaker Mike Chenault (NGP Photo). "Today’s U.S. DoE announcement is good and welcome news not only for my district, but for the state as a whole. The LNG plant has been a significant part of our economic base on the Peninsula for the past four decades, and remains a driver for high-paying jobs at the plant and in supporting industries. The export renewal also helps Southcentral gas stability until the proposed Kenai CINGSA gas storage project comes on line, since the plant serves as a storage facility in lean times during the winter for the entire Southcentral area. I’m thankful to our state’s congressional delegation for coming to bat and helping to secure another two-year extension." * ADN Story
