Last Saturday, Governor Sean Parnell delivered the GOP radio response to the President’s message.  He emphasized Alaska’s potential to heal the nation’s economy and efforts of various coastal governors to work together in meeting the challenge of Federal government efforts to make OCS resources unavailable.  Here is the link to that address.

Fairbanks Chamber Event.  On July 11 the Chamber will host the Tom Barrett, TAPS, Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, Admiral, Pipeline Safety Office, Photo by Dave HarbourCEO of the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS), Admiral Tom Barrett (NGP Photo) of Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.  We encourage our many Interior Alaska readers to attend that luncheon.  Before going, review our comment yesterday (below) on Tim Bradner’s article and our opinion about the priority that Alaskans should accord TAPS throughput.  Then, test that opinion with questions to the good Admiral.  After all, in the delicate situation we now face, a discerning and informed public is essential.  (More information on the event here.)  -dh


San Francisco Chronicle: United planes to fly on advanced biofuel – David Holt (NGP Photo), president of the Consumer Energy Alliance, praised the venture. “As a large consumer of energy, the airline industry understands the need for an all of the above approach to energy production and the new United-led effort is a step in the right direction to help diversify sources of domestic energy supply for travelers and shippers,” Holt said.


CBC North.  The N.W.T. government plans to start construction on the fiber optic link up the Mackenzie Valley next winter.  Finance Minister Michael Miltenberger says it will make Inuvik a hot spot for Arctic research, and also help to better connect northerners.
