The Hill by Zack Coleman.  It’s crunch time in the fight over constructing the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline.  Both sides believe a decision by President Obama could come by the end of the year, making the next few months critical for lobbying and messaging efforts.  Opponents plan a burst of demonstrations and other events across the country to rally environmental pressure on Obama to reject the Alberta-to-the-Gulf Coast pipeline.

Is Canada Resolute While Obama 'Dithers'? Connect the dots.... Calgary Herald by Barry Cooper.  Columnist Claudia Cattaneo (NGP Photo) provided readers of the National Post with a commonsensical explanation: “As Obama dithers, Canada moves on.” Ever since 2005, when The Economist called Paul Martin “Mr. Dithers” for his indecisiveness, no one has confused dithering with prudence. Cattaneo was referring to the refusal by Obama to approve another TransCanada project, the Keystone XL pipeline, which would deliver 830,000 barrels of oil (more than four per cent of American daily consumption) to [...]

Calgary Herald / CP by Bob Weber.  At least three governments and two energy industry groups are leading what they hope will be a "pan-Canadian" approach to find ways to improve the country's pipelines. A Time For Choosing by Gary Jackson.  On Wednesday’s The Five Beckel followed the White House’s lead while discussing the proposed Keystone Pipeline. Several days ago, President Obama told one of his most egregious lies to date [and that's saying something] by claiming the Keystone Pipeline would only create 50 jobs, when in fact, it will create between 40-50,000 permanent jobs. Good paying, durable jobs. And that doesn’t include an almost like number of support jobs in the service industry.  During the discussion on The Five Beckel, defending Dear Leader Obama, claimed the Alaska Pipeline, [...]

BP today announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2013. Calgary Herald, by James Wood.  The Alberta government says it isn’t rattled by U.S. President Barack Obama’s skepticism over the benefits of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, despite the high stakes riding on approval of the energy project.
