Calgary Herald by James Wood.  Premier Alison Redford's brief visit to Vancouver Tuesday had no time for diplomacy as Alberta and British Columbia remain at odds over the Northern Gate-way pipeline proposal. Alaska's Economic Focus: TAPS and Spend by Dave Harbour We have pointed out that the single economic focus of Alaskans and all Americans interested in energy security should be the improved throughput of the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS).   America's energy lifeline once transported over 2 million barrels of crude oil/day to the Lower 48, 20% of America's domestic [...]

Obama's Relentless Attack on Alaska by Dave Harbour The Obama administration continues its relentless attack on Alaska's economy.   Late yesterday, we heard of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's (NGP Photo) not very well disguised effort to close down America's national petroleum reserve to petroleum exploration and his continuous attack on Shell Oil's highly professional, rigorous and patient effort to please regulators after having paid billions in lease payments and other exploration preparations.  We have continually warned fellow citizens to be aware of the steady focus of the Obama - enviro - [...]

Comment on Due Process and Rule of Law.  The latest example of EPA killing America's economy is the Alaska case of a mine investor, the Pebble Partnership, which has acquired leases on state lands designated for mining (Here is an Alaska newspaper report by Lisa Demer.  Here is the Pebble Partnership position.).   The EPA with support from well-funded environmental activists are seeking to derail the project even before it applies for a number of required state and federal permits for specific work on the state project.   Fossil Fuel by Dave Harbour Many North American politicians are so concerned with pleasing everyone all the time that they lose sight of the very basis for North American prosperity: fossil fuel. Fossil fuel, indeed, is the basis of our modern civilization.  Where would Canada's and America's economies be today without fossil fuel providing the bulk of electrical power for over a century, for powering mining of critical and strategic minerals, for heating homes and businesses, for providing royalties to support social services and education, for almost all modern [...]
