Trump is right to keep an “open mind” on environmental issues and right to vigorously oppose and eliminate EPA overeach
Commentary by
Dave Harbour
As President-elect Donald Trump listens to the failed climate change arguments of Al Gore and the liberal, elitist climate pleadings of non-scientist Leonardo DiCaprio, we once again are focused on the “Climate Change” agenda of liberal activists and politicians.
We have demonstrated here, that from a political viewpoint at least, the “Climate Change” movement is about killing capitalism, not supporting environmental causes.
Our Friend, Thorpe Watson, reminds us (i.e. scroll down) that an anti-carbon policy impacts quality of life. He illustrates what the eco-extremists miss, with this cartoon, when they put all their eggs in the basket of anti-carbon rhetoric and political action.

Dave Harbour as Jacob Marley, A Christmas Carol
A decade ago we had the pleasure of acting in some local Shakespeare and Dickens plays, including, A Christmas Carol, and, a year later sharing dinner with Patrick Stewart and my wife. When one memorizes scripts in classic plays like Romeo and Juliet and Carol, as Stewart and we agreed that night, one can’t help but absorb a little wisdom of the ages.
Perhaps the most important lesson a student of history — or of the Bible — can learn is that the seeds we plant, the actions we take, produce consequences as Jacob Marley’s ghost tried to teach Scrooge and which Scrooge, finally, learned so very late in life.
Whether there is a natural, long-term global warming/rising of the oceans trend … or whether the trend is only temporary in geologic time … is debatable. Whether any present warming periods are caused by humankind as opposed to the many, natural warm periods of the past, is debatable. Whether increasing the cost and decreasing the production of fossil fuels in America can affect any worldwide warming trend, is debatable. Whether transferring billions of dollars from North America to the United Nations so that the U.N. can — or should — launder those dollars to favored areas can affect global warming, is debatable.
Where issues are debatable, how can the expression, “The science on climate change is settled”, be given the same credibility as a fulfillment of the scientific method wherein, for example, a pharmaceutical theory undergoes clinical trials as a new product, is proven, is peer reviewed, is tested and is successfully marketed?”
Yesterday morning on Fox News’ “Happening Now” segment, The Sierra Club’s Michael Brune, lambasted the Trump administration, particularly his nominee for the EPA. We found his criticisms to be typical of the eco-activist crowd whose primary goal has to be protecting its own bureaucracies, sue-and-settle judicial strategies, government constituents and international relationships highlighted by their success a year ago with the Paris Climate Change summit. (Scroll down for conclusion….)
In an interview this past weekend, Trump said he was “open minded” regarding. “climate change”. We are open minded, too. So far, our open mind has not been convinced that, 1) there is a permanent warming trend, that 2) it is created by humanity, that 3) benefits of global warming do not balance the disadvantanges and, that 4) massive money transfers from U.S. taxpayers to the UN, NGOs and developing nations is an efficient way to approach the issue.
We’re also curious as to what the ratio of declined U.S. carbon emissions is compared to 1) each of the other nations party to the Paris Climate Change Agreement, and 2) to naturally occuring carbon and greenhouse emissions enanating from the oceans, volcanoes, geothermal sources, etc.
Finally, don’t call those of us with an open mind who are not persuaded by a liberal agenda to kill captalism and expand government while redistributing our wealth, “Climate Deniers”.
Don’t you dare.
We have your number. When you employ those tactics to expand your bureaucratic, welfare and crony capitalist constituencies, you are modern mimics of Saul Alinsky’s Sixth Rule for Radicals: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”
And once we understand you are not honest, fellow Americans seeking compromise in the interest of a better country, we will reject compromise with you and realize that you are actually, “the enemy within”. Your followers — mostly idealistic and well intended youth — are “useful idiots” to be sacrificed the minute you achieve total political control.
Knowing the truth about you “Climate Change Radicals”, you “Alinsky Apostiles” enables us to correctly identify the enemies of the country and devote ourselves to unmasking you and neutralizing your evangelical furor.
But. Were I able to haunt you of the Alinsky clan I would do so out of pity, urging you in my best Jacob Marley presense to not be forging chains in life that will emburden you and our country forever.
Rather, I would invoke the spirit of Christmas upon you, acknowledging as you should, the one true faith that would save you from a fate so narrowly escaped by Scrooge in Dickins’ great work for this and all seasons.
