Alaska State Senate.  Fairbanks’s three state senators say Governor Sean Parnell’s (NGP Photo)Alaska Governor Sean Parnell, gas pipeline, AGIA, ACES, Dave Harbour Photo mid-day announcement that North Slope oil producers have aligned on a 42-inch natural gas line is a good step in the right direction.  “I’m glad to see the producers and TransCanada have met the governor’s deadline to give us alignment on a concept,” said Senator Click Bishop, R-Fairbanks. “They have agreed on a 42-inch line, with eight compressor stations, about 800 miles long. That could be terminating at Valdez or Point MacKenzie-we don’t know. Obviously, I would prefer Valdez. However, I congratulate Governor Parnell on the progress announced today.”  “I am very pleased. Today’s news certainly indicates there is an international market for Alaska’s natural gas,” said Senator John Coghill, R-North Pole. “However, House Bill 4 is still something worth working on for in-state use. And of course, the best solution for immediate relief for Interior Alaskans has to come through trucking.”  “I’m grateful we have people in place that can actually move forward a project that we’ve only previously been able to talk about,” said Senator Pete Kelly, R-Fairbanks.
