Former Mayor George Ahmaogak Could Save Alaska’s Economy

Commentary:  When former Alaska North Slope Borough Mayor George Ahmaogak (NGP Photo) took the podium in the Petroleum Club last night, you could hear a pin drop as he began speaking followed by a thunderous applause when he finished.  He said he is completely consistent and candid with his constituents.  When elected he will -- as in the past -- have an open door policy for citizens and those doing business in the borough.  He believes the future of the oil industry is generally aligned with the future of North Slope Borough [...]

Propane: A Bright Spot In Alaska’s Future

Alaska Dispatch by Amanda Coyne.  ... Propane has the potential to do more than just power your outdoor grill. It can heat Alaska homes, cook Alaskan meals and even fuel Alaskan vehicles, thanks to advances in technology. A company called ROUSCH CleanTech (NGP Photo with Roush executive, Todd Mouw) has delivered a propane fuel-injected carburetor that works even in the coldest North Slope temperatures. And ANGDA has decided to partner up with ROUSH.  Propane-powered vehicles could save Alaskans money while making Alaska air even cleaner. Turns out propane is kind of a [...]

Hastings Warns America Obama Is Hurting TAPS

The Daily Caller by Joe Rossamondo.  The Obama administration is setting the stage for the dismantling of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and poses the greatest threat to its existence today, according to House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (NGP Photo).  The 800-mile pipeline cost $8 billion to construct in the 1970s, and has moved more than 18 billion barrels of crude oil. Three oil companies constructed it, in the face of significant opposition from environmentalists, in response to the 1973 Arab oil embargo.  (Note: we commend Chairman Hastings for his [...]
