AEA release: The Regional Integrated Resource Plan (RIRP) is a 50-year, long-range plan that will identify combinations of generation and transmission (G&T) capital improvement projects in the Railbelt Region of Alaska. Fairbanks News Miner by Dermot Cole. The December edition of Business Monitor International’s monthly review of oil in gas in North America has a grim assessment of the natural gas outlook. The London-based publication says that Canadian companies such as Suncor Energy, EnCana and Enbridge Energy Partners are looking to sell some of their “noncore” natural gas production because of [...]
Houston Chronicle (12/2) reports, “Lawmakers on Wednesday began examining an array of ways to combat global warming, amid signs that the carbon dioxide emissions trading plan known as cap-and-trade may be faltering in the Senate. “We need to dispense with this somewhat blind loyalty to economy-wide cap-and-trade,” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski (NGP Photo) of Alaska, one of a handful of Republicans who has signaled she might support a climate change bill. “We need to be encouraged to look to all of the alternatives, and, unfortunately, so many of them have just been [...]

Federal regulators on Tuesday proposed designating more than 3,000 square miles of Cook Inlet as critical habitat for the Inlet's beluga whales. The proposed rule would provide an additional layer of protection for the roughly 300 remaining Cook Inlet belugas that were listed as endangered in October 2008, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. "It means that we are looking more broadly than the species. We're also looking at its habitat," [...]

See last week's Global Warming Scandal/Fraud revelations, here. Now, see what this week's scrutiny brings us, below. The Alaska Standard's Alex Gimarc (Photo-r) comments: The leak of 160 meg of e-mails, computer modeling code, spreadsheets and other data from East Anglia University’s Climate Research Unit has exposed over a decade of fraudulent climate science “proving” the existence of manmade global warming. It has thoroughly documented the complete corruption of the peer review process and corruption of the scientific journals used to publish those results. At this point, not only are the conclusions [...]
Thomas Lamb's Blog. The Republican who heads up the federal agency overseeing the proposed construction of Alaska's natural gas pipeline is stepping down at the request of President Barack Obama. Hmmmmm...... The Denali project is seeking Gazprom's support and there are rumblings that the Hickel LNG project may be linked up with the Denali project. Hickel is supporting Bill Walker in the Republican primary for Governor and Sarah Palin is supporting Sean Parnell. And the bad news on TransCanada emerges? Reuters-Canada. Roads, buildings and pipelines in Canada's north are at risk from global warming and the government must do more [...]
SEE PAULA EASLEY'S (NGP Photo) ALASKA STANDARD PIECE: It has all the earmarks of a blockbuster thriller - greed, corruption, lust for power, obstruction of justice, and more. It's been called the biggest scandal in history. Organized scientific fraud. Cap-and-trade con game. A conspiracy. One thing the mainstream media hasn’t called it is news. I’ve been riveted by the blogosphere's stunning "ClimateGate" revelations unfolding by the minute since November 20. It leaves me more disheartened than ever with the MSM’s long-standing failure to represent skeptics’ contention that CO2, a trace component of the atmosphere, [...]

Below is the Alaska House letter and our response.... Dave Harbour, Founder Northern Gas Pipelines November 20, 2009 Dear Mr. Harbour: I’d like to offer a response to the editorial regarding the recent Anchorage Daily News story and the WWF reception to clarify the mission of Alaska House, New York. RDC Treasurer, Tom Maloney (NGP Photo), opened the conference with a spirited introduction of Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan (NGP Photo-r) who gave more than the usual, mayoral welcome to Anchorage. (More reports, links, photos coming....) Below is a Face Book comment made this morning. Dave Harbour (Related Facebook Comment) Alaska's propensity to spend our children's future by imposing unreasonable taxes, our irresponsible spending habits, and our overall reluctance to adopt an adult-like fiscal plan are killing prospects for prosperity. It's not too late, but it is getting [...]
Pat Pourchot Promises: "President Obama and Secretary Salazar Have Expressed Strong Support For Alaska" Alaska Dispatch by Rena Delbridge (NGP Photo-left). North Slope oil companies issued a warning on Wednesday morning: Without significant state and federal changes, investment and new exploration will taper off dramatically in 2010. They also cited huge shale gas reserves in the Lower 48, unfavorable state fiscal policies and massive risk associated with the multibillion dollar cost of a proposed natural gas pipeline as real challenges to delivering Alaska's natural gas to markets. Spokespeople for majors [...]
Fairbanks News Miner, by Christopher Eshleman. State officials said Tuesday night that efforts to spur construction of a massive natural gas pipeline are on schedule despite skepticism from critics and some lawmakers.
