FuelFix: Climate Plan Prompts Look at Energy Transportation Emissions *Op-Ed by David Holt - With the President’s recent release of his Climate Action Plan, and his comments on the approval of the Keystone XL pipeline, Consumer Energy Alliance believes it’s appropriate to examine the emissions associated with the transportation of crude oil.  It’s not just the refining and consumption of petroleum products that releases GHG’s. The transportation of oil from one country to another also carries a GHG footprint, as fuel is consumed by oil tankers, trains, trucks and pipelines as they move oil from [...]

From American Energy Alliance: Morning Energy News - July 9, 2013   Let us save you three hours of avant garde, pouty whisper-narration: this is Gasland 1 retold with every inaccuracy, hoax, and outright lie. Don’t watch this movie, not because it’s so terribly presented and lacks any kind tie of reality, but because time is precious and there are so many better ways to spend those three long hours. Washington Free Beacon (7/8/13) reports: “Environmentalist filmmaker Josh Fox presents a hoax perpetrated by a Texas activist designed to malign an innovative oil [...]

7-6-13 – Like Alaska, British Columbia Faces Reality of Global Competition

Petroleum News Alaska by Gary Park.  Japan’s largest importer of LNG has delivered a sharp jolt to the British Columbia government: Drop the idea of a tax on gas exports or put its LNG dreams in danger.  Tepco, Tokyo Electric Power Co., also prodded the government to resolve the concerns raised by First Nations about the construction of pipelines from northeastern British Columbia gas fields to coastal liquefaction terminals.  A company spokeswoman said uncertainty hanging over the LNG projects, including taxation on Greenfield operations, could slow or stop plans.  Tepco [...]

7-5-13 The White House Fatāwā On Energy Consumers and Taxpayers

President Obama's Climate Action Plan by Dave Harbour There is nothing significantly "good" about Obama's simultaneous attack on American taxpayers, energy consumers and the free market.     His "Climate Action Plan" will lead America away from energy Report and Commentary: CANADA.  (Draft, subject to edits) In Canada, the environmental community continues a more than 40 year strategy for opposing development.  It flowered in the 1970s as various environmental activists, church activists and other liberal allies created a 'moratorium' strategy for blocking construction of the original Alaska/Canada natural gas pipeline.  [...]

6-30-13 Following Rome Down The Road To Ruin

Sunday Commentary Reference: Washington Times, 6-28-13, Victor Davis Hanson by Dave Harbour This morning, we were reminded by a Washington Times column, also printed in the Anchorage Daily News today, of how in its latter days, Rome debased its previously purer coins with alloys, increased taxes on productive farms, offered free games and food to the masses and counted on its military to continue defending a crumbling culture.   51% Say U.S. Economy is in Recession One evidence of North America's crumbling culture is the frequency and ferocity of political [...]

6-29-13 Tomorrow (6-30-13) Is An Important Day For Alaska!

COMMENTARY: We have never sent an email alert out over the weekend.  We did so today because we fear that -- no matter how one feels about a certain project -- the federal government is very close to setting a precedent that will forever compromise the "Rule of Law" in the United States of America.     Americans for Tax Reform have pointed out that the EPA killing an Alaska mine project before a permit for review is submitted is like  a judge issuing a verdict before hearing the case.   [...]
