Good News! Great Kids! awards banquet honors outstanding students
Every year, the Mayor’s Office and the University of Alaska team up to recognize and reward ten local high school students. The awards, called Good News! Great Kids!, honor juniors or seniors who have succeeded in school and overcome a personal challenge. Additionally, the students pay tribute to their most inspirational teacher or mentor, who is then presented with the mayor’s CREATE (Community Recognition for Educational and Teaching Excellence) award.
