On Being Thankful For The Good News and the Bad As Well….

We are thankful for the good news of an incoming federal administration that more heavily values our Constitution, the rule of law, the proven value of wealth producing natural resources, the importance of properly defending U.S. liberty and the simple but eternal truth symbolized by the greeting, “Merry Christmas”.

Our hopes spring eternal for good news on the Alaska and Canadian energy scenes wherein demagogic minorities have successfully used due process and the rule of law not to create a better way of life, but to destroy capitalism.  Alaskans also face the additional burden of an administration fixated not on successfully and reasonably confronting a mortal fiscal crisis but on increasing the deficit further by keeping the bureaucracy whole and pouring more public treasure into a gas pipe dream whose time has not come…and at the same time threatening the fragile economy with higher taxes on the few remaining wealth producers.

Truly, with the next State election two years away there is much to do to drain the Juneau swamp.  Cut the bureaucracy, Governor’s office, and programs to a sustainable level.  Make Alaska great again by rebuilding Alaska’s injured reputation and investment climate.  Adopt a strong Constitutional amendment to limit spending to a sustainable level.  Adopt a parallel Constitutional amendment to limit revenue to a just and reasonable standard based on the Constitutionally limited spending.   Ask Dr. Scott Goldsmith for guidance as to what the formulae for both amendments should be…in order to withstand legislative attempts to over spend and over collect.

In this way, Alaska can become an economic oasis where its people and government believe that, A DEAL IS A DEAL.   Alaska can then make its huge, prospective resource base more attractive to reasonable and necessary investment–and at the same time assure a stable, sustainable budget for government and way of life for citizens.

Happy Thanksgiving Tomorrow!

We do realize that fully appreciating the good energy news we receive from time to time is more poignantly appreciated for having endured the bad news as well.       -dh

Alaska Journal of Commerce: Murkowski lays out path on Arctic leases.  Republicans have options to counteract the Obama administration’s move to pull Arctic waters from the federal offshore oil and gas lease plan, but they are far from immediate.

Drill, baby, drill? Election reignites offshore-oil debate.  The controversy over drilling for oil in the Atlantic Ocean has been reignited by the election of Donald Trump, and environmentalists and coastal businesses say it could be the first major fault line that divides them from the new president.
