Calgary Herald by Deborah Yedlin. It’s rare to hear a coast-to-coast perspective on the importance of market access and pipeline infrastructure as delegates were offered Tuesday at the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers’ annual investment symposium. A four-member panel brought representation from British Columbia (Kinder Morgan’s Norman Rinne); Saskatchewan (Energy and Resources Minister Bill Boyd); Quebec (Eric Tetrault, head of the Manufacturers and Exporters) and New Brunswick (Irving Oil president Ian Whitcomb). Alaska’s Legislature Approaches Budget Consensus
(Story Below)
ADN by Nathaniel Herz.
The Alaska House and Senate on Tuesday unveiled identical rewrites of Gov. Bill Walker’s deficit-reduction plan to restructure the Permanent Fund, and they look a lot like a separate proposal from Sen. Lesil McGuire, R-Anchorage.
Walker’s two bills to help cover the state’s $4 billion budget deficit, Senate Bill 128 and House Bill 245, would have withdrawn a fixed $3.3 billion from the $52 billion fund each year to help pay for government services.
Senate Finance Committee Co-Chair Anna MacKinnon, R-Eagle River, kept Walker’s name and bill number on the Senate version of the legislation. But she switched its contents to look more like McGuire’s bill, Senate Bill 114.
Four hours later, House Finance Committee Co-Chair Steve Thompson, R-Fairbanks, introduced a replacement for HB 245 with identical language to the bill unveiled by MacKinnon earlier in the day. More….
In the right column today, we bring you more on the effort to cripple free enterprise via the political/religious/scientific manipulation of rhetoric, data and other information.
The Wall Street Journal provides this update:
Wall Street Journal, by James Freeman. Today’s climate activism “exists to promote the Democratic agenda, whatever it may be this week,” writes our columnist Holman Jenkins. And that agenda does not include “policies that might actually alter the course of climate change. The president’s power-plant rules, even if climate models are accurate, would affect global…. More…
Climate Change: Science, Religion or Politics
by
Dave Harbour
We have concluded, upon having adequate evidence, that the so-called global warming/climate change movement is all about accruing political power to democrats (i.e. now indistinguishable from socialists or communists) by killing capitalism. Its puppeteers mobilize well intentioned battalions of followers by imbedding a certain religious fervor/faith into their hearts and minds; faith, by definition preempts facts. To call such innocent followers, “useful idiots“, therefore, is not name calling, but a simple statement of fact.
It tries to accrue scientific credibility by carefully picking limited periods of time for study (i.e. thence, the “hockey stick faux-proof“)
Today we provide more on this subject from a Canadian NGP reader, Thorpe Watson:
Will “Canada’s Way Forward on Climate Change” eventually result in the malicious prosecution of climate skeptics, as is being proposed in the USA? (See below***)
http://www.climatechange.gc.ca/default.asp?lang=En&n=72f16a84-1
In pursuit of truth and free speech, we must reject the Trudeau-Butts climate-change action plan. A Gerald Butts agenda is now devastating the economy of Ontario! It is driven by a scientific fraud, which wrongly vilifies an essential plant food, carbon dioxide (“CO2”). CO2 is not a pollutant!
Restricting Canada’s 1.48% of the world’s CO2 emissions will not stabilize the planet’s ever-changing climate but it will impose on Canadians an impoverished, Medieval lifestyle. Furthermore, it is delusional to believe that CO2 gives us the power to suppress the planet’s four major climate cycles.
Unfortunately, the consumption of all coal, oil, and gas reserves will not materially replenish our severely-depleted store of CO2. Nevertheless, the product of such consumption, CO2, will materially extend the planet’s green period.
Will Canadian climate skeptics be subjected to fines and imprisonment, as is being proposed in the USA? It is imperative that we denounce any such anti-science behaviour by our governments. We must not allow governments to close the door to knowledge by forcing us to abandon reason, experience, and the laws of nature.
Sincerely,
Thorpe

EXCERPT
Should those who doubt climate catastrophe be prosecuted?
Last week Al Gore joined with the attorneys general of New York, Massachusetts and several other states to announce plans to investigate fossil fuel companies and climate skeptics.
Their goal: To fine, imprison, harass, or intimidate anyone who rejects Al Gore’s global warming alarmism.
This is scary. It is not fiction. It is, however, frighteningly similar toOrwell’s 1984.
You may recall earlier last month, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch admitted to Congress that the Department of Justice and FBI have also been considering action against climate skeptics.
[Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is encouraging such action against climate skeptics. – Thorpe]
Is America actually entering an era where those in power think it is acceptable to fine or imprison political opponents who disagree with them?
Free speech is an essential right. An attack on the First Amendment is an attack on free people everywhere!
