Here is an update for the time and location of the UA- BOEMRE Seminar today, 3:30 p.m.
This afternoon, at 3:30pm, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement Deputy Regional Director Jeffery Loman will be one of the presenters with the University of Alaska – North by 2020’ seminar series – Defining Risk in Arctic Coastal & Offshore Resource Development. His topic: Preventing Success from Breeding Complacency. The seminar continues to explore overarching concepts of assessment and mitigation of risks applied in different settings relevant for natural resource development. (Our Comment: The biggest risk in the Alaska Arctic is posed by an unpredictable Federal government that sells leases then by bureaucratic, arbitrary and capricious delay prevents development. This sustained opposition to the maintenance of civilization in the North could result in a premature closing of the Trans Alaska Pipeline for lack of throughput from oil produced on federal properties. That risk manifests itself by a sickening and then the death of Alaska’s economy as we now know it, within a very few years. -dh)
You can attend by viewing the seminar in the Alaska Region’s Large Conference Room or by attending in-person at UAA’s Administration Building, Room 204 at 3:30pm.
