2-17-18 Alaska LNG Planners Are Busy, Busy, Busy, but….

Alaska gas project bureaucrats are busy, busy, busy. But since the economics are not yet supportive of the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) scheme, to what end is the government controlled organization busy?  -dh P.S.  If the economic stars are not aligned for AGDC, why would the Chinese be interested?  Even if the Chinese are interested, what convinces AGDC that China as a long term contract partner, in a multi-tens of billions of dollars project, would be reliable?  Does Alaska's governor plan to use the state's savings account to [...]

2-15-18 BC-Alberta Pipeline Tensions Rise – Let’s Not Forget Alaska Either!

Danger Stranger by Dave Harbour Why are government officials in Alaska, Alberta and British Columbia so engaged in efforts to control utility/pipeline projects?  A.  Because that's where the money is (Ref: W.H.).  Ratepayers, Taxpayers, Citizens beware the elected elite and bureaucracy! DANGER-STRANGER We urge critical thinking Alaskans to be especially alert to utility/pipeline games.  With declining economy, unions and government workers, some utilities and compliant politicians (i.e. and croney capitalist businesses dependent on the foregoing) will naturally want to keep their constituencies WHOLE at the expense of [...]

2-9-18 Why do we need gas pipelines?

Comment: With Canadian liberal leaders at the national and provincial level doing everything possible to worship climate change and kill fossil fuel and pipelines that transport them, you had to expect the arrival of a 'day of reckoning'.  We expect there will be more to come.  -dh NEWS Prince Rupert residents urged to use less natural gas due to damagedpipeline.   CBC.ca.  Even though temperatures are positively chilly in the north coast city, residents of Prince Rupert have been urged to reduce their natural gasuse because of a problem with the sole line into town. 1-23-18 Just remember….

Just remember... Private companies when filing with FERC and other agencies -- for energy projects or just for portions of a project regulated by a particular agency -- really have to have their acts together. Among that preparation is a reasonable degree of knowledge and proof -- acceptable to the board of directors as well as convincing to the agency -- that the project is real.  The application must be solid: environmental research/safeguards (i.e. air, water, earth and flora and fauna, including birds, mammals, fish), geological, cultural, archaeological, logistic, [...]

1-22-18 Alaska’s Pipe Policy Pursues Perfidy

Saturday We Said, "Canada's Pipe Policy Pursues Perplexity" (Today, it's Alaska's Turn) We say Alaska pursues perfidy because it does.  Everyone in the state with at least one good eye on this government-owned bureaucrat-controlled enterprise (i.e. the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation, or AGDC) knows it is is not what it claims to be. Heaven knows what Governor Walker told President Trump about his pipedream last year when his role as governor gained him entrance to America's seat of power to talk about a $1 trillion US "Infrastructure" investment project.  [...]

1-19-18 Alaska and Alberta: Resist Socialism!

Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela's socialist (i.e. communist) dictator. Comment: We continually urge Alaska and Alberta to control spending and taxation.  The two oil supported governments should resist the move toward socialism which unsuccessfully manages economies, kills economic growth, produces run-away unemployment and inflation and results in dictatorship and loss of freedom.  Following is an example of an oil-fired economy ruined by socialist dictatorship.  -dh Looting of food stores spreads in Venezuela as inflation tops 2600%.  Things are going from bad to worse in Venezuela as growing food shortages are [...]

With George Brown’s death at age 96, comes the end of an era at the Lucky Wishbone ADN, by Julia O'Malley ... The story of the flat-roofed restaurant on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Karluk Street isn't about food so much as it's about history and people and the value of things that don't change. It begins with George Brown, who, until recently, could be found most days sitting on a stool at Counter B. He opened the place with his wife Peggy in 1955. He died on Saturday, ending an era for [...]

In a perverse kind of way, this week’s 50 per cent increase in Alberta’s unpopular carbon tax — to $30 per tonne of carbon dioxide emissions — could be a big gift from Rachel Notley’s NDP government to her opponent, United Conservative Party (UCP) opposition leader Jason Kenney.  Calgary Herald by Claudia Cattaneo (Photo by Dave Harbour). $60 oil returns to Calgary but 'boom' talk does not Mackenzie gas project dumped Alberta Sacrifices Economy To Liberal Gods Of Climate Change Phillips: Albertans support efforts to embrace [...]
