Announcement from Janet L Weiss, President, BP Alaska Exploration, Inc. Janet L. Weiss. Northern Gas Pipelines file photo by Dave Harbour. Last week, BP issued its 2016 Annual Report and the required 20-F form submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. 4-3-17 Russia Is Strong In the Arctic — U.S. Better Get Its Act Together!

4-1-17 IT’S APRIL FOOL’S DAY! But the comment below is real.

Alaska Governor Wants Trump to Back LNG Pipeline “Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.” —Perth, Scotland, 28 May 1948, in Churchill, Europe Unite: Speeches 1947 & 1948 (London: Cassell, 1950), 347. 2-23-17 Oil/gas Investing in a fiscally challenged state run by a government considering energy industry tax increases in a low price environment!

We always appreciate Ak-Headlamp's analysis. Based on what you read today, we wonder if you will be buying oil stocks or selling? You certainly wouldn't be inclined to invest large sums of your own money in a remote, Alaska North Slope pipeline/LNG project run by temporarily elected and appointed politicians and bureaucrats, would you? You would? Well, how about if that state were teetering on fiscal collapse and considering raising taxes on the oil industry in a low price environment? -dh ______________________________________________________ Alaska Headlamp Commentary Yesterday, the Alaska State Senate [...]

2-8-17 The Oil Curse

The Oil Curse: Is It Real? by Dave Harbour Our critical thinking readers can review this book (below), decide, then apply their conclusions to the oil, gas and minerals policies of Alaska and Western Canada (i.e. for starters). Realizing that both the production and price of resources is volatile, I would carefully husband and [...]
