Obama's Relentless Attack on Alaska by Dave Harbour The Obama administration continues its relentless attack on Alaska's economy.   Late yesterday, we heard of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's (NGP Photo) not very well disguised effort to close down America's national petroleum reserve to petroleum exploration and his continuous attack on Shell Oil's highly professional, rigorous and patient effort to please regulators after having paid billions in lease payments and other exploration preparations.  We have continually warned fellow citizens to be aware of the steady focus of the Obama - enviro - [...]

8-6-12 On The Road: Ecuador

On the road (Ecuador; see scores of photos being added here).  We find the people a delight, the country well run, the environment protected, natural resources being reasonably developed, culture embraced, arts and humanities revered and overall quality of life unexcelled.  We'll return to Alaska this week, carring with us memories of an extensive and poignant visit to a land too close to ignore, to far to understand without visiting and too precious to not put in one's travel plans.  It was a wonderful photo mission wherein we learned much [...]

4-25-12 – Texas Alliance of Energy Producers

Commentary:  Our friend, Consultant Paul Ziff (NGP Photo), sent us his new paper yesterday, “Natural Gas Under Siege”.  He says that in today’s price environment, every MCF of gas produced increases a producer’s financial loss.  If one adds to that scenario, desire of the Feds to overregulate shale, the loss to producers and production decline will be exacerbated.  -dh Today, your author has the pleasure of addressing the annual meeting of the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers.     -dh  Membership Breakfast Speaker: Dave Harbour, Commissioner Emeritus, Author, Regulator, Lobbyist Membership [...]

4-8-12 – The Kentucky Derby Draws Closer!

Personal Comment: Once again we draw attention of our readers to the Kentucky Derby occurring this year on May 5 at Churchill Downs.  We have covered the Derby in previous years and following this year's event will be releasing thousands of race, fashion and behind the scenes photos (Dave Harbour World Photography Samples) for editorial and art use and for creation of a wonderful, new coffee table book.  Astute readers know that this magnificent event is unrelated to Northern Gas Pipelines--though we value it for being one of the Nation's enduring cultural and iconic celebrations [...]
