12-18-16 Liberal Politicians Bowing To Climate Change Religion May Live To Regret It

Our Canadian friend, Dr. Graham Thorpe, sent us the following email.  It warns of faux environmental rituals of those practicing the ‘global warming/climate change’ religion, along with a description of the horrendous outcomes of their anti-civilizing brand of evangelizing.  Dr. Thorp’s commentary is completely consistent with our commentaries provided to readers here, over the years.   Thorp's warnings apply as much to the United States and other spoiled, liberal, ''developed" nations as to his own country of Canada.  –dh _____________________________________________________________________________ Hi: The following article, entitled “Climate Change and the Modern-Day Scrooge”, [...]

12-16-16 Canadian Climate Debate Divides East & West, Producers & Consumers. In U.S. It’s A Familiar Debate, Too

Petroleum News.  Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared outright victory Dec. 9 in his campaign to gain backing for a national “framework” agreement on climate change. But getting there needed an 11th-hour concession from British Columbia and, despite Trudeau’s persistent claim that all participants endorsed the need for action to curb greenhouse gas emissions, the summit of 10 provincial and three territorial premiers wrapped up with Saskatchewan and Manitoba - two Prairie provinces which relay almost exclusively on resource development to underpin their spending programs - refusing to sign on. Chairman Bishop Opines On DOI Appointment House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Rob Bishop issued the following statement in reaction to the appointment of Representative Ryan Zinke (R-MT) to head the Department of the Interior.   “Selfishly, I’m not crazy about this nomination, because Zinke was a bright freshman member of our committee. 12-9-16 Murkowski Energy Bill Fails, Blames House; Canada’s Energy Policies Fail With Rising Global Warming Hysteria

Earlier this week, we wondered if Alaska's governor, Bill Walker was rational when, in a letter to ExxonMobil, he cautioned one of his state's major investors to subdue its Constitutional right of free speech.  Today, our Argus Media friends reminded their readers of this blundering statement: "Please do not take steps to thwart Alaska's ability to monetize our gas," Walker wrote. Argus also focused on another gas project blunder. "Alaska governor Bill Walker has told ExxonMobil that the state does not need to provide the producer fiscal certainty on the massive [...]

12-8-16 Let’s circle the wagons on the Dakota Access Pipeline issue

Our Native Friends We'd like to circle the wagons again, around the Dakota Access Pipeline issue -- following our Tuesday commentary -- and make sure the issue doesn't devolve into a racial epithet crossfire wherein no one is safe and many are left with wounded feelings. To start, we have many Native friends and our first reaction to the Standing Rock tribe's Dakota Access Pipeline protest was that local folks might be mistreated.  We know that the Sioux Nation has had a troubled relationship with the federal government for [...]

Alaska and her Canadian provincial sister, Alberta... ... both face similar economic/political challenges.  1) Both have an overdependence on volatile petroleum income, though Alaska's dependence is greater.  2) Each has a liberal leader who understands the importance of natural reource revenue; but, some of their major constituencies actually oppose natural resource development and support higher energy taxes.  3) The Governor of Alaska and Alberta's Premier both preside over large bureaucracies whose funding has been slashed by a two-plus year energy price decline.  4) Meanwhile, energy competitors all over the world are [...]

12-4-16 PIPELINE HALTED: Feds block proposed route of Dakota Access pipeline after protests

Governor Jack Dalrymple. Northern Gas Pipelines file photo by Dave Harbour Commentary: We see the federal action, described below, as a violation of due process and, by extension, the rule of law. The Corps of Engineers consulted all potentially interested/affected parties and after a constitutional operation of due process approved the pipeline route's right of way easement on July 25th. Does not the political action to block the proposed route violate the constitutional guarantee of due process and the record that supported the Corps' decision on the record? [...]
